FAQs

Things you might want to know
1 What is documentary or storytelling photography?
Storytelling Photography is about capturing your family as you are. It captures your real life as it happens as opposed to posing you. I want your photos to tell the story of who you are as a family.
2 Where do you photograph families?
I photograph families in Stellenbosch, Paarl and across the Cape Winelands, as well Cape Town. But I am also willing to travel to other parts of the country (and the world). But this will of course come at a cost. Shoots can be at home or at a beautiful outdoor location like a forest, park or the beach.
3 What should we wear for the shoot?
Firstly, comfort is very important in whatever you choose! You need to feel like you. I will send you a styling guide once we've confirmed your booking and I'm always happy to give you some guidance and input should you need.
4 How long is a session?
My standard sessions are 45-60 mins. However, I do offer other sessions that are a bit longer. Extended family shoots tend to be a bit longer, up to 90mins as there are more people included.
5 My kids are very busy and never sit still. Will that work?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm expecting. Kids rarely sit still but I don't want them to. My sessions are child-led so I follow your child's energy and use games and tactics to get them comfortable and interested.
6 What if the weather is bad?
If the weather is miserable and its raining, we will definitely reschedule. We will check in the morning of the shoot or the day before and make a call together. Having said that, a bit of wind and overcast weather can make for some beautiful moody photos.
7 How many photos do we get? And when?
This all depends on the package you choose but at least 70 high res images. I will deliver them in online gallery within 3-4 weeks.
8 Do you offer prints and albums?
Yes, I do offer limited options in high quality albums and prints My albums are designed by myself and the lead time is usually 12 working days. Enquire when booking your shoot.
9 When is the best time to book a shoot?
This all depends... Summer months tend to be very busy and booked up quickly for obvious reasons. However, because I shoot at sunset, I prefer winter months because the sun sets earlier, which means it's more convenient if you have little ones. The beaches are also less crowded.
10 Do you offer mini sessions?
I don't offer mini family sessions. Here's why...
I have found that it's not possible to truly capture your family's story in 15 minutes. It honestly takes you about 15 minutes to warm up and only after that do I get the good stuff. I do however offer 30 minute motherhood sessions (only mom and her kids) as these sessions are focused on capturing a specific season in motherhood and doesn't tell a full story.
